YOUR IDEAS, YOUR SPACE

Privacy, with clarity.

Your moodboards stay on your device. Here is how the rest works.

Privacy policy · Last updated

01

Boards stay local

Your images, notes and colors are processed in your browser.

02

No account needed

The current editor works without a MoodStudio account.

03

You choose what to share

Saving or exporting creates a file on your device.

01

Who we are

This policy covers MoodStudio Design at moodstudio.design, a browser-based tool for arranging images, colors and notes into moodboards.

The service is operated by MoodStudio, responsible for the personal information we process to operate the website and respond to enquiries. Our privacy contact is privacy@moodstudio.design.

02

Your boards & local files

Images you add, board names, notes, colors, layouts and edits are processed on your device. These files and edits are not uploaded to our servers. Public Pinterest previews are loaded using Pinterest’s widget scripts, as explained below. Our server can resolve a pin.it share link to its full public address.

Save creates an editable .moodboard.json file containing your board and uploaded images, plus references to any Pinterest Pins and the public board URL you loaded. Open reads a file you select. Export PNG creates an image on your device. We cannot access, restore or delete these local files remotely.

When you send a board file or exported image to someone, that person receives its contents. Your computer, browser, backup software or a synced folder may also keep copies according to your own settings.

The sample photos are bundled with this website. Displaying them does not require a connection to Unsplash.

03

Browser storage & cookies

The editor keeps a recovery copy of your open boards in IndexedDB in your browser. localStorage remembers which board was active. These features help you continue working when you return; they do not send your board content to us.

Recovery copies remain until you close the corresponding board in the app, clear this website’s browser data, or your browser removes that data. Closing a board does not delete files you saved on your computer. Local files remain until you remove them yourself.

Browser recovery belongs to a particular browser and website address. It is not a substitute for saving a file. Save your work before clearing website data.

We do not use advertising trackers. Optional Google Analytics is described below. Public Pinterest previews use Pinterest’s widget scripts in isolated embedded frames. Pinterest may use cookies and process technical information for these widgets under its own privacy policy. Our hosting and security providers may also use essential cookies or other technical measures to deliver and protect the website.

04

Optional Google Analytics

When configured, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand website traffic: page visits, sessions, referring websites, approximate location and browser or device information. Google receives technical information needed to deliver this service, including your IP address; Google says IP addresses from EU, Swiss and UK users are used to derive approximate location and then discarded before logging.

Google Analytics is loaded only if you choose “Accept cookies”. Declining does not affect the editor. We rely on your consent for analytics. We disable Google Signals and advertising personalization, and use Google’s enhanced measurement for supported website interactions, such as scrolling, outbound link clicks, downloads and form interactions.

Our page-view events use a fixed page title, exclude query strings and URL fragments from the page address, and reduce referrers to their website origin. Google’s automatic interaction events can also include the full address and text of a clicked link, including Pinterest Pin IDs in Pinterest links, download metadata such as filenames, and form identifiers. Site-search terms may be collected if a supported search URL is used. We do not add your board names, notes, uploaded image files, account tokens or other board contents as custom event data. Automatic measurement is controlled by the web stream’s settings in Google Analytics.

Your cookie choice is stored on this device for 180 days. Analytics cookies identify browser visits for up to 90 days. You can change your choice or withdraw consent at any time through . Withdrawing stops Analytics collection in this browser and removes its Analytics cookies. It does not automatically delete information already collected. Clearing browser data removes your choice and we will ask again.

Google processes analytics information on our behalf. Information may be processed outside the European Economic Area under Google’s applicable transfer safeguards. See Google’s privacy policy and Google Analytics data privacy information. Contact us if you have questions about analytics data or want to exercise your privacy rights.

05

Website hosting & technical information

The website is published using OpenAI Sites and served through Cloudflare infrastructure. When your browser requests a page or asset, hosting and security providers may process technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, request time, browser information and security or error information.

This information is used to deliver the website, maintain availability, diagnose problems and prevent abuse. Our application also records technical server and Pinterest API errors in the existing hosting logs, using a random error reference, release version, route with resource IDs removed, HTTP status and normalized provider error codes. These custom error records do not include account tokens, cookies, board names, uploaded images, notes or raw Pinterest response bodies. Hosting request logs may separately contain requested URLs and the technical information described above. Our basis for necessary website operations and security is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable, secure service.

Technical information is subject to the providers’ retention practices and may be processed outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Their policies explain their processing, retention criteria and international transfer safeguards: OpenAI privacy policy and Cloudflare privacy policy.

We do not sell personal information or use your board content for advertising or to train AI models. The editor does not include an AI service or send board content to an AI model.

06

If you contact us

If you email privacy@moodstudio.design, we receive your email address, the message and any information or attachments you choose to send. Please only include board content if you want to share it with us.

We use this information to answer your question, provide support or handle a privacy request. Our basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or compliance with a legal obligation when handling statutory requests. Our email provider also processes the correspondence to deliver and store it.

We keep correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the matter and any related follow-up, or longer where required by law. You can contact us to ask about or request deletion of information you have sent.

07

Pinterest & public board links

You can load a public Pinterest board by its link and drag individual Pin references onto your moodboard. The current Pinterest panel does not require a Pinterest account connection or use Pinterest’s protected board-reading API. Private, removed or restricted boards and Pins may not be available.

Pinterest’s official widget scripts load public board and Pin previews in isolated embedded frames. MoodStudio uses the public image references from those previews to display draggable thumbnails and canvas photos with links back to Pinterest. Pinterest receives the board or Pin URL, your IP address and technical request information, and may use its own cookies, scripts and logging. The widgets do not receive your moodboard, uploaded image files, notes or any MoodStudio Pinterest session token. Pinterest source links remain available on each canvas photo.

When you drag a Pin, only that Pin’s public reference and its placement are added to your moodboard. The full public board URL and Pin IDs are kept in your local board file and browser recovery copy. Public preview image addresses and dimensions are held temporarily in browser memory and are not embedded in your saved board file or recovery copy. If you provide a pin.it link, our server follows a limited set of public Pinterest redirect addresses to find its full address. Invite codes and tracking parameters are removed from the saved reference. The resolved link is passed back without persistent application storage or shared caching.

When you export a PNG, MoodStudio requests the displayed public Pin photos through a restricted image relay on our server so the browser can include them in the image. The relay accepts only public Pinterest image-CDN addresses, forwards no account credentials and does not persist photo files or use shared application caching. Hosting request logs may contain those image addresses. The resulting PNG is generated and downloaded on your device, with a Pinterest badge on each Pin photo. If a photo is unavailable, you can cancel or explicitly export a link card for it instead. Attribution does not change the rights that apply to an image.

Earlier versions offered an optional Pinterest API account connection. Existing authorization cookies can remain until they expire, you clear this website’s browser data or you revoke access in Pinterest settings. These cookies contain encrypted access and refresh tokens, are HttpOnly and Secure, and last up to 60 days subject to Pinterest’s expiry. The current public-board panel does not use that connection. The retained API endpoints can use an authorized session and renew its tokens without persistent server storage; simultaneous renewals may briefly share a result within that individual session. They do not grant access beyond Pinterest’s permissions.

Pinterest’s processing is explained in its privacy policy. Shared live MoodStudio sessions are not currently available. We will update this policy before introducing additional data processing.

08

Your choices & privacy rights

You control your local boards: edit them in the app, save copies, close open boards, remove downloaded files or clear this website’s browser storage. We do not hold a server copy of your board that we can retrieve on your behalf.

Where applicable law provides these rights, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information we hold, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it. Contact privacy@moodstudio.design to make a request.

We aim to respond within one month, subject to the extensions allowed by applicable law. You may also complain to your local data protection authority; in the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

09

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our data practices change and show the latest update date above. We will explain material changes before introducing features that process your data in a new way.
